Today I’ll share a paramount necessity to turning life around so you can feel good or at least feel better about life in order to create changes to get more of the things you want… and less of what you don’t want!

Feeling well is  essential for personal improvement and happiness, particularly if you feel you’ve “hit bottom” and are totally down in the dumps.

..In my last two posts I spoke about the Law of Attraction  and the fact it exists and is  always at work in your life (one way or the other) whether you like it, embrace it, accept it, … or not!

I also shared a post outlining a few examples of how it’s always worked in my life, even though I didn’t realize or pay attention to it at the time.

Today,  however, I’m not rattling on about the LOA specifically, but more I’d like to share that I believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt that when it comes down to the nitty gritty, everything in my life has always been a direct result as to how I “felt” during the times I experienced landmark events.

Now bear in mind, we don’t have to call ‘the reason things happen” the “Law of Attraction” if you don’t want to…… that’s just an overused; over hyped phrase that has been hammered to death these last few years and created a bit of a “woo hoo” stigma in some cases, taking away from the common sense of what it really is.

The point is, regardless of what you want to call it, in order to turn life around and make changes for the better, we have to do something about it and ‘be involved’, and  at the end of the day our performance always  boils down to how we  feel… which ultimately results in what we do… or don’t do..

Today I’m referring to feeling good or at least feeling better about life and making ‘positive progress’ to make life changes that are within our control.

I do not want you to confuse this with things that are not within our control… (I.e. losing a loved one or losing employment, etc.).

It’s just that I firmly believe that when it comes to achieving personal abundance, fulfillment and leading a better life, etc., we all have the power to make it happen (if we truly want to), and that everything we have to this point is many a time a result of something we have done, or not done to this point… good or bad.

For example, if you’re currently in a situation, where you: hate your job, you’re flat broke, miserably unhappy with your career or personal life, you need to start feeling better “physically” first and foremost before you can take any steps in the right direction.

Feeling well is absolutely imperative in order to feel good mentally.  Feeling good mentally is the only way you’ll ever be able to recognize or even ‘think’ about the fact you have the power and ability to make life changes.

You see, today, we live in a time where there is a plethora of opportunities for improvement but the problem is,  if we don’t have the energy to see them, let alone take action, we’ll just keep getting the same as we’ve always gotten and it becomes no different than being on the same treadmill, year in, year out.

Why We Don’t Always Feel Well:

The challenge however is, in this day and age it’s not always easy to feel good physically or at least as good as we should.

We humans have a lot to contend with:  We live in a fast paced world where stress is at an all time high.  We run around like a “farts in wind tunnels” and have less time to just ‘chill out’ that ever before.

Because of this, many of us don’t eat as well as we should, sleep as well as we should and down time and work-life-balance is a thing of the past for many of us and this has a way of leaving us sluggish and exhausted.

Time issues aside, we also have environmental battles to weaken us further.  Some you may have never thought about or considered some of them, but the end result is, many of us live with weakened immune systems and are not nearly as healthy as we used to be when things were simpler and less complicated.

These environmental issues affect many areas of life and if truth be told is a topic in itself. Because I could easily get carried away and veer off track, I’ll write about these separately in my next post and when I do, (It’s up now – take a look) I will be asking for your input and points of view.

For now though, I’ll focus on this post and the point I’m making which is the fact that  when we don’t feel good, or feel as well as we should,  we’re often  run down and sometimes plain tired out which results feeling ‘flat’, unenthusiastic and horribly lethargic.

When in this mode, it’s pretty tough to see the bright side and put out the right vibrations to even begin attracting the right stuff no matter how much we want to chunter on about the LOA.

Before I Managed to Turn Life Around:

I know when hit my lowest point in life, I just couldn’t see the positives.  My outlook and mindset was such that I couldn’t even grasp enough common sense to begin putting forth the effort (let alone energy) into attempting to save my marriage when it went down the proverbial ‘swanny’.

To be honest, I was so worn out and sluggish, I felt to be pulling a grand piano uphill all day, every day and  I’m darn sure it showed to anyone and everyone with whom I came in contact. :-|

When I made the decision to sell my half of the family business to stay home with the kids, instead of being elated as I should have been, it took every last drop of energy I had to simply get through each day.  I wasn’t well enough to see the bright side or show any kind of gratitude for the opportunity…and my ability to recognize the fact I had options to create changes was so far off my radar it wasn’t even funny due to sheer exhaustion and anxiety.

It wasn’t until I became so thoroughly sick and tired of being sick and tired, I paid attention to how unhealthy and energy less I really was.  This light bulb moment allowed me to see the correlation between my mind, body and spirit and ultimately forced me to decide that come hell or high water, I had to find the energy to actually do something about it.

Well… now that I’ve beaten this long winded “introduction” to death… I’ll get on with it and share with you a few of the changes I made that made me feel good about life again and ultimately helped me make the right choices to create a new and exciting existence.

Great ways to Feel Good & Feel Better:

1)      Start to eat more regularly… and correctly.   I made a point to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner every day even though I didn’t always feel like it).

Because of my ‘depression’ I’d got into the bad habit of just nibbling…usually on something ‘unbalanced’ and that took little effort to ‘throw together.

Problem is, if you don’t nourish your body and maintain it properly, you’re going to feel energy less and have no motivation to do anything… let alone maintain a positive outlook!

2)      I paid closer attention to WHAT I ate too.  I made healthier choices and paid more attention to my selections in the way of fresh produce, meats, grains, etc.  Making good food choices and being selective is paramount these days and one of those ‘environmental’ topics I’ll talk about in my next post.

I think it’s worth mentioning I’m not a ‘health nut’ but as a rule I’m not an  ‘unhealthy eater’ either  and I have always provided a well balanced, healthy diet for my kids.  At the time I was struggling emotionally however, I, along with most people in the same boat, didn’t put a lot of effort into my own intake.

With that said, sometimes even if you’re not ‘down in the dumps’…  just simply due to a busy life, diet can often take the back burner and instant packaged/canned foods or fast food becomes ‘over convenient’ and sometimes even a way of life.  (Not a good thing!)

3)  I started to get more rest.  To be honest, I’ve never had a problem actually “sleeping” apart from the very occasional ‘odd’ bout of insomnia, but I made extra effort to get to bed at a decent hour.

So many of us to burn the candle at both ends.  Sometimes it’s because we have so much to accomplish each day and want to make use of every minute; other times it’s just to savour a little ‘peace and quiet’ when our kids are in bed.  Problem is it never does us any good.

A good night’s sleep is one of the best remedies for feeling well. Sleep gives your body time to heal and rejuvenate and my grandma always said that every hour you can get to bed before midnight is worth double.

I hate to admit, I still battle with getting to bed on time … but I’ll be the first to say how much brighter and resourceful I am when I behave.

4)      Take a good Multi Vitamin.  I started taking a good multi vitamin every day as well as fish oil capsules and iron.  I’m not giving any medical advice here… but it’s so important these days to take a good supplement and I doubt any doctor would argue that.  With the way our food supply is these days, you can rarely count on getting everything you need from food alone.

5)      Drink water… and lots of it.  95% of the population is dehydrated and don’t realize it.  We need a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day… and I’m not talking about juice, tea, coffee, either.  I’m referring to clean pure water.

I will admit that I never was a huge water lover, but when you force yourself to get into the habit of drinking it regularly throughout the day, you get used to it and integrate it into your regular routine; you can’t help but notice how much better you feel.

Earlier last year, I started drinking alkaline water too.  The reason I switched from purified is because alkaline water is better absorbed by body hence flushes any acidosis caused by the food we eat, beverages, stress, etc…and balances the bodies natural pH.  I only wish I’d have subscribed to Alkaline much sooner as we have all noticed a tremendous difference in energy and performance.

6)      Listen to something uplifting every single day, such as personal development or motivational tapes to increase your outlook, not to mention your vibration.

When I started to feel better due to my new habits, I began to ‘think’ better and had a much brighter outlook. Listening to positive information boosted my motivation and it was around this time my new found ambition lead me to discover  my personal development program / business opportunity  that lead me down this particular entrepreneurial path.

I listened to the CD’s (that are part of the program) every day while doing housework…or even while in bed and it was (and still is) a great way to ‘get your motor running!

It’s a heck of a lot better for you than listening to all the doom and gloom the ‘news’ broadcasts into our lives each day.

7)      I started reading positive and empowering books as well. Many were self growth topics on the power of positive thinking etc., but they made me feel so good!

While you may not choose the same types of books as me, I would simply suggest you read something that lifts your spirits, is relaxing and brings personal satisfaction & enjoyment.

8)  I made sure I got outside in the fresh air for a minimum of 30-60 minutes each day, longer when I had the opportunity.  It didn’t matter if I was taking my children for a walk to the park, or just walking around the block.  Getting some air puts the pink in your cheeks and you feel better for it.

9)  I started to go out a more often to socialize with my friends as during the time I felt down in the dumps, I more or less became a recluse.

Getting a change of scene and going for a nice dinner and a good laugh with others is very good for the soul.

Laughter really is the best medicine.

10 )      It’s a beautiful thing when you regain your physical and mental energy.  I found I felt more like setting goals and looking ahead to the future instead of moping.

When you’re starting to come alive again, it’s a good time to make a list of what your “ideal life” would look like.  Dig down and determine the ways you can make changes to create your own life by design.

Write these ideas down the old fashioned waywith pen and paper.  There is something about writing it down that makes it real and makes it stick.

Take your time and really dig to the core of what you really want… and don’t worry if you feel the goals are far fetched.  Think BIG.  You’ll start to see all sorts of opportunities and you’ll feel to have more control of life and see the possibilities that lay before you.

11)  Be kind to yourself and learn to recognize your own value.  With an increased energy level you’ll also improve your self esteem which is key to being happy.

We are all unique individuals and all possess value and unique talents.  We all have something we can use to help both ourselves as well as help others create positive life changes.  We just have to take the time to find our own purpose.

Never be afraid of walking to the beat of your own drum either.  You’re ok the way you are.

While I do believe it’s great to learn from others and take advice, it’s also ok to listen to yourself and follow your own heart and intuition.  (This is a topic I’m also looking forward to writing about in a future post).

Wrappin’ It Up:

Feeling good as a whole will rub off to your mental well being as well.  The longer you maintain a positive attitude consistently; you’ll develop a stronger mindset and put out the positive energy to everyone around you and attract more of the “right stuff” into your life.

If you’re feeling less than satisfied with life, yet too lethargic to create any changes, take my word for it.

If you feel like crap, you’ll think like crap… you’ll often look like crap and you’ll reap nothing but crap!!

Maybe I should have said this right off the bat and the post would have been done! :-)

If any of this post resonates with the way you feel, there is nothing I’ve shared here that is difficult to implement.  In fact, these simple habits are almost effortless and a small price to pay for how great you’ll feel after a couple of weeks.  Contact me if you need a hand.

This is the advice I share with both clients and friends alike and I’ve had some wonderful feedback, even though what I’ve written about isn’t rocket science.  Sometimes you just need to ‘hear’ it for the penny to drop.

Take responsibility and start today and you will feel better not only inside, but it’ll show on the outside and you’ll find you’ll have more energy in body mind and spirit.

What do you think??  Have you noticed the correlation between your own physical well being and mental outlook?  Please share your thoughts and any other ideas below.
